Joshua, graduated from Florida’s Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and is the first student at the university to start his own scholarship. What makes Williams’ truly extraordinary is that he spent most of his first three years at the university without a place to stay.

As this week’s Interesting People doing Extraordinary Things guest, the 23-year-old shared his tale of how he went from a homeless student to a top-notch graduate and how for much of his life, he recalls being surrounded by violence and crime — his younger brother was found dead in a lake at the age of 16. In the face of adversity a desire to go to college despite a lack of funds meant that he told the university he was living off-campus, even though he didn’t have a place to stay.
